A Great Deal in Uruguay--For 5 Readers Only
Date: 04/30/2009 Author: Ronan McMahon
Here's a deal in Uruguay that I was just told I could share with you--but please be aware that it's only good for five days.
An hour from Montevideo, Uruguay’s historic capital, is the beach town of Piriapolis. This is where you'll find the Sugar Loaf Ocean Club and Spa--Uruguay’s first high-end gated community targeted at the North American market.
On May 5, developer David James will launch Phase 2. He calls it Armonia (Harmony) at Sugar Loaf. Quarter-acre lots will be released for $49,000. But you can pre-reserve one of these lots for $39,500 now. Better still, David will finance 70% of this special price interest-free. This offer closes on May 5, when David officially launches Armonia.
I told members of Real Estate Trend Alert about this first, and now only five of the 19 lots pre-released are still available. A fully refundable $5,000 deposit secures one of these lots, and you then have a time window (you need to agree this with David) to travel to Uruguay and check the property out for yourself before committing.
Sugar Loaf Ocean Club and Spa is a 75-acre property surrounded by rolling hills, farms, and pastureland. Downtown Piriapolis is five minutes away. Sugar Loaf sits high on a hill in front of Uruguay’s famous Sugar Loaf Mountain with views of Piriapolis and the deep blue sea.
The planned modern business center and conference room will facilitate remote working. Wireless Internet service will be available throughout the community. All utilities are underground. The onsite restaurant, El Alquimista, will offer a fusion of traditional Uruguayan recipes and international fare.
Amenities and services at Sugar Loaf will include massage, aromatherapy, gymnasium, Jacuzzi, stables, tennis courts and an infinity-view pool. Residents or owners here are automatically entitled to membership at nearby Club de Lago--one of the finest golf courses in South America.
The site is buzzing with activity. They are working on the first group of homes in Phase 1. These are nearing completion. Infrastructure progress is moving fast and David’s plans call for delivery of the clubhouse within a year.
Piriapolis is often compared to an old-fashioned American seashore town from the 1950s, with its stately brick buildings, waterfront boardwalk, grand hotels from a bygone era, and neighborly feel--everyone knows everyone. Piriápolis is filled with bathers and sun-worshipers for the entire summer. Year-round, people come from all over Uruguay to enjoy its fine seafood restaurants, casinos, cafés, and local museums.
This town is a boater’s paradise, noted for its large marina with affordable rates…one of the few marinas on the entire coast. Sailing enthusiasts frequently enjoy the three-hour sail to Punta del Este, or the day-long voyage to Buenos Aires.
I would expect to pay at least $49,000 for pre-infrastructure lots here. And Sugar Loaf has moved beyond the pre-infrastructure stage. Considering the quality of the project, the infrastructure progress, and the luxury homes under construction, these lots are a great deal at $39,500. Better again, David will finance 70% of the purchase price interest-free. There is no build requirement meaning that you can sit on your lot for as long as you want. This offer is off the table by May 5 or once the five remaining are sold...whichever comes first.
You can contact David directly at: sales@sugarloafuruguay.com. I strongly urge you to speak with him--as I said, only five lots are still available.

P.S. Little Uruguay rarely makes the news. It quietly goes about its business. Peaceful and stable, Uruguay is free from natural disasters. Rich in culture and agricultural produce, Uruguay is increasingly being viewed as a safe haven in times of economic uncertainty. Uruguay recently did make the news...if only briefly. It’s now officially Latin America’s fastest-growing economy. Economic growth in 2006 was a respectable 7%, and 7.4% in 2007. Estimates indicate that Uruguay grew by 11.5% last year.
