International Living Postcards-- your daily escape
St. Valentine's Day, 2006
Paris, France
Dear International Living Reader,
The world's most romantic hotel is a cantilevered castle built into a cliffside on Italy's Amalfi coast. Every room faces the sea with a sweeping view. Each room is different, but all have private gardens. Balconies with painted tiles, arches, antiques, and bouquets of flowers give you your own view of the foaming sea. You can descend through the mountain to swim and sunbathe, watch the fishermen come and go in their boats, shop for Italian pottery, or sit back and relax by the bay.
Alas, Hotel San Pietro (double rooms from $450 a night, tel. + 39 089-875-455 for reservations) doesn't reopen from its winter closure until April.
Never fear: As Feb. 14 is upon us, and your thoughts have no doubt turned to romance, we've put together our top choices for the most romantic getaways in the world. Yes, it is too late to book a Valentine's Day rendez-vous in one of these exotic locales for this year. But if you've yet to make plans for a celebration today with your special someone...consider a trip to any of these destinations, and all will be instantly forgiven.
Not intended for the average Casanova, these romantic escapes represent the best that the world has to offer in the way of luxury for two.
In the spirit of St. Valentine, we detail our 10 favorite romantic escapes in a report we call The World's Most Romantic Escapes. And, again, in the spirit of the day, we offer this special report to you with our compliments. You can read it free online here or download it in PDF format here.
Happy Valentine's Day,
Kathleen Peddicord
