The Best Colonial Deal in Granada
Date: 05/20/2004Dear Reader,
Granada is the most agreeable city in Nicaragua, a city with history and charm. It offers good restaurants, good hotels, a movie theatre, Internet cafes, decent shopping, and a large central plaza surrounded by old Spanish colonial buildings.
I've just found out that one of these colonial buildings is for sale.
Foreign investors buy these old colonials to fix and flip; they regularly pay $200,000+ for something that needs a lot of work.
But this colonial is in beautiful condition and the asking price is less than you'd normally pay for a "needs work" listing.
More than 100 years old, it was completely renovated two years ago, keeping the classic Spanish colonial style.
It's a 3,000-square-foot house with two large bedrooms and three bathrooms. It has air conditioning, four different types of hardwood throughout, classic cained ceilings, a clay tile roof, and on the second floor is a room with a 360-degree view--from here you look out on Granada, Volcano Mombacho and the tops of the city's Cathedrals.
At $179,000, this is a great value. Many of the colonials in Granada cost far more than this and still require full renovation.
If you'd like more details, or just want to see the other photos I took, let me know.
