THE SURVIVOR EFFECT

Date: 05/20/2003

Dear International Living Reader,

Hold on to your hat...here we go again.

The tremendous popularity and huge viewing audiences of worldwide reality TV series are about to translate into another big-time boom in real estate values for another until-now unheard-of island destination.

It happened on Roatan, in the Bay Islands of Honduras...it happened on Ambergris Cay, off the coast of Belize...and it's about to happen on Contadora, in Panama's Pearl Islands.

This time, it's not Temptation Island, but Survivor. The production crews are already in place. Coincidentally, our man in Panama, Greg Geurin, is scheduled to be on Contadora later this week. He'll report back further after his visit.

What we can tell you now is this: Real estate values on this private, idyllic, exclusive, white-sand-fringed island will appreciate after the Survivor series airs (to its more than 20 million viewers per episode). How much?

Who knows.

They rose 100% and more on Ambergris in the six months following the airing of the Temptation Island series filmed there. And, for our money, Ambergris has got nothing on Contadora. This tiny island is the stuff of travel magazine covers.

P.S. The real estate market on Contadora is small and limited. Not a lot of inventory. Another reason the spike in values could be even greater here than it was on Ambergris in the wake of Temptation Island.

As longtime readers of International Living know, we're already invested. A little more than a year ago, International Living purchased a group of Villas overlooking the island's best beach. Seems like a smart thing to have done now...

But here's my point: It's not too late for you to get in, too. You've still time to invest before the weekly episodes begin to air.

If you're interested, seven of the Villas at Contadora, overlooking Galleon Beach, remain available for sale. And we haven't raised the prices. At least not yet. For more information, go to the Villas at Contadora.
