Dear International Living Reader,
During the Panama portion of International Living's Three Country Tour (Ecuador/Panama/Nicaragua) last month, we trekked to Boquete and then along the Pacific beaches, spending our final days in Panama City, where we hustled from high-rise to high-rise.
Boquete continues to be a favorite destination for visitors and I'm reminded why each time I visit--it's the ultimate getaway for relaxing and taking in life's simple pleasures. It just doesn't get much better than watching the sunrise from the porch at the Panamonte Hotel--listening to the rush of the river--sipping a cup of the local java roast.
One tour attendee decided to buy here. We're still negotiating the contract but he should walk away paying less than $5,000 an acre for prime Boquete real estate--one of the most beautiful pieces of property I've ever seen--five minutes from the town of Boquete, replete with rolling hills dotted with coffee plants and orange trees.
There are still some great real estate opportunities in Boquete and throughout the Chiriqui province. With all that's been written about the area, many assume it's saturated with expats, overrun with speculative land prices, and basically sanitized by North American snowbirds.
Not so.
It's still a quaint Indian town with a charming town square where people gather and talk amid the local grocer, a pool hall, and the central bus stop.
