We have a secret weapon.

Whenever we want the bare-knuckles, no-holds-barred, absolute lowdown on a place, we point Steenie Harvey at it and turn her loose.

The results have been impressive…she’s peered into corners, poked under rocks, and prodded sleeping dogs from Chiang Mai to Chiriqui for us. She’s spurned the advances of lady bikers on the Greek island of Lesbos, dared Dracula’s ghost to materialize at his castle in Transylvania, and stared down threatening bands of marauding monkeys in India.

And she is a serious researcher of local adult beverages wherever her travels take her. Years of practice in this area have allowed her to put me under the table several times, even though I have a good 70 pounds on her. It’s a travel skill that has stood her in good stead at local watering holes more than once, I’m sure.

Steenie recently completed an assignment to give us her personal take on Uruguay, and I can’t wait to see what she’s discovered. For the next three days, Steenie will take us from Montevideo to Colonia del Sacramento and Artigas, showing us Uruguay through her own keen, world-wise, and occasionally bloodshot eyes.

Who else would call the Uruguayan national drink “a sludgy green concoction” or manage to find black candombe drummers in Montevideo’s predominantly white Ciudad Vieja? Then again, who else could find apartments there for $45,000 or entire stone houses a block from the most historic neighborhood in the country starting at $80,000?

What else will she find? It’s a given that there will be more than a few stunners in her reports that only Steenie on the prowl could manage to uncover.

Steenie’s reports from Uruguay start tomorrow, so don’t miss them…and stay tuned for a free report we put together called "The Ultimate Uruguay Package."
