International Living Postcards-- Sunday Edition

In the past two years, Scott Taylor has attended eight International Living events. His next trip? He's traveling with us to Nicaragua later this month. ("Seems like a good time to visit," he says, "as many investors in this country are running for the hills right now.")
Scott is 28 years old…and he's been an IL reader for a decade. Currently a resident of Carlsbad, California, Scott is planning a big move in 2007. After attending four IL conferences in Panama, Scott says he's ready to take the leap. He's moving this New Year to Panama City.
Eight conferences in two years? Four events in Panama alone?
No, Scott's not daft (at least no more so than the rest of us IL-types). He's committed. At an early age, Scott's discovered that he shares this International Living perspective. It started with Roatan, Scott explains. "When I first subscribed to International Living 10 years ago, I read about this little unheard-of island in Honduras. It got my attention. Now, 10 years later, everyone knows about it…and I've yet to go!"
Meantime, though, in the last year alone, Scott has traveled not only to Panama, but also to Mexico, Argentina, and Uruguay.
What's Scott looking for? As he puts it, he'd like to have it all…and he doesn't see why that's not a realistic objective. Certainly not in Panama.
"My plan is to live in Panama City," he explains, "for its amazing night life. Then I can drive to the beaches of Coronado for a quiet weekend or fly to Boquete when I want to get away from it all. It'll be the best of beaches and mountains…city and country."
But the real reason Scott says he's chosen Panama? You'll have to take my word for it that his response to this question is not a paid endorsement or coerced in any way. No kidding, Scott says he's going to Panama City because of "the IL Panama staff."
As he puts it, "I've attended four IL events in Panama, and each time they get better and better. The best part is the staff. Brandon, Eric, Stephanie, Sara, Grant, Martina, and the rest of the IL crew are awesome. That's a major reason why I'm moving to this town when my apartment at Bayfront Towers is complete."
No big surprise, therefore, that, when we launched our newest VIP service last month, Scott signed on as our first member. The new World Club program (click here) had his name all over it. One free conference…50% off every other event you attend…plus one type of conference free for life…the chance to bring a guest free sometimes, too…and red-carpet treatment every time you travel with an IL group? It's a program custom-made for IL frequent travelers like Scott, who assures us he'll be getting his money's worth. We look forward to seeing him again…and again…and again…and again…

P.S. We asked seasoned traveler Scott to name his favorite place in the world to relax. He was reluctant at first to tell us, for fear of giving away the secret. Finally, he admitted, though, that his preferred place to lie on the beach, eat barbecue corn on the cob and fresh fruit (for $1), then take a jet-ski around the island is Koh Samui, Thailand. He's headed back for another visit next month.
Scott's top travel tip? "Find the places where most tourists go…and don't. Identify the restaurants where most tourists dine…and don't. If you want to experience a new country and all it has to offer…follow the locals."
