Has "retirement" become a forbidden word?
The AARP seems to think so.
Formerly known as the American Association of Retired Persons, they now go only by the acronym AARP.
Apparently, they want nothing to do with the word "retirement"…or any notion that any AARP members are elderly.
We share their sentiments, and likewise want nothing more to do with any old-school notions of retirement.
In this day and age, sedentary lifestyles are out.
Engaging, exciting, and exotic lifestyles are in.
And in this month's print issue of International Living, for the 15th straight year, our Annual Global Retirement Index delivers the lowdown on the 28 best countries in the world in 2006 to travel, live, prosper, and reinvent yourself in first-class style.
If you've ever thought about…
* Owning your own beachside villa…mountain cabin…or downtown apartment…
* Protecting your retirement nest egg…receiving more affordable health care…reaping the benefits of the world's best retirement programs…
* Swimming with dolphins…learning how to surf…reeling in a half-ton marlin…or skiing in July…
* Opening your own B&B or beachside bar & grill…starting an English language school…or investing in international real estate…
…then you'll want to check out International Living's 2006 Annual Global Retirement Index.
You can compare the benefits offered in many popular retirement destinations for dynamic people like you…places like Italy, France, Panama, Mexico, Thailand, Australia, Argentina, and plenty of other exciting locations.
Whether you are looking for a tropical paradise, a dream deal on retiree benefits, or tax advantages unavailable where you live now, you'll find what you are looking for in this issue.
You'll discover:
* A country the size of Missouri that looks and feels like a European country, yet is much, much, much less expensive than anywhere in Europe. (In its charming capital, you can still buy an apartment for less than $30,000.)
* An intriguing island nation in the heart of the Mediterranean--steeped in history and tradition. The small islands that make up this nation offer near-perfect climates year-round, a simple, relaxed lifestyle, and still-affordable real estate prices. (Flat-roofed, honey-hued stone farmhouses change hands for around $150,000.)
* What Condé Nast Traveler called "The Best Country In The World" in 2005--and why it's rapidly gaining popularity amongst North American travelers and expats.
* The winner of this year's Annual Global Retirement Index--for the sixth year running. This nation boasts the world's best pensionado program, and close proximity to America, (Yet here you can still find a little beach house to call your own, with all the modern conveniences, for less than $100,000).
And that's just the Annual Global Retirement Index.
When you read the September 2006 print edition of International Living, you'll also learn about some fantastic, undiscovered locales all over the world where you can keep active, have a great time, and make a difference.
You'll discover:
* How to buy property in one of South America's premier seaside resorts…
* How to tee off at some of the world's greatest golf courses for less than $50…
* The ups and downs of living in a Caribbean paradise…
* Our Top 10 property picks of the month…
* …and much, much more.
And this is only the September issue!
