Learn more about discovering a better life overseas in International Living Postcards—your daily escape

I’m sitting by the pool at the Fiesta Americana Condesa in Cancun, Mexico, watching the turquoise waves roll in from the Caribbean and gathering my thoughts after our International Living 2008 Ultimate Event. I have to confess, I’m a little worn out...but the beach chair, the breeze coming in off the ocean, and this cold cerveza are helping a lot.

Last night we wrapped up this year’s Ultimate Event, and it turned out to be the largest conference we’ve ever held: 275 attendees, 100 speakers, presenters, and International Living editors and staff from around the world converged at Cancun. (But look out for your last two “Ultimate Event Insider” reports…they’ll hit your inbox in the next couple of days.)

And just about everyone I talked to during the four days we were together agreed...if you’re looking for a way to live a more enjoyable, more profitable, more carefree life for much less than you’re paying now, this was the event that had it all.

I’ve worked for International Living for close to eight years now, and I’ve never seen a more experienced and high-powered collection of financial experts, privacy and wealth protection gurus, international business specialists, real estate experts, seasoned travel and lifestyle writers, and practicing expats in one place. For four days here along Cancun’s famous beaches, all of them rubbed shoulders with attendees looking for ways to protect themselves, their lifestyles, and their profits in these turbulent times.

For me, and I’m sure for most of our attendees, it will take several days to mentally sort through the mountain of advice, personal contacts, business leads, investment ideas, and other information we acquired at this year’s Ultimate Event. My head is still spinning today.

In fact, we’ve been asked repeatedly to provide recordings of our events...not only by those who can’t attend, but also by attendees who want a record of everything they experienced...including any presentations, breakout sessions, and workshops they weren’t able to attend. There was so much information in some of these presentations that you couldn't help but miss something somewhere along the line.

So that’s exactly what we’ve done. We’ve recorded the entire 2008 Ultimate Event...every presentation and every workshop, from the nuts and bolts of living in Uruguay to starting a business in Brazil to travel writing in Croatia. From presentations about inexpensive living in Italy and visa benefits in Panama to home design in Belize and affordable health care in Mexico. Not to mention presentations from expats actually living the life...a couple running a thriving Internet and publishing business from Mexico, a real estate development specialist working in Panama, a publisher and online business expert working from Ecuador.

The recordings aren't the same as being there...for example, we don’t record our cocktail receptions, VIP dinners, sponsored lunches, and other associated events where so much personal information and stories are shared and so many life-long relationships blossom.
But the recordings are an excellent tool for mining each and every presentation and workshop for every kernel of essential information. That’s why even our attendees like the recordings...they can play them over and over and get every last bit of valuable advice and direction that they may have missed during the event itself.

These recordings are a priceless source of info and ideas for anyone ready to explore global options for a better life. Follow this link if you’re interested in ordering your International Living Ultimate Event 2008 recordings or learning more about them.

In the meantime, I’ll just settle back here by the pool and try to decompress. I won’t be hosting another International Living event until our Live and Invest in Panama Seminar starting July 31, but it may take me that long to sort out everything I’ve seen and heard here in Cancun.

It would be nice to spend the next two months in this beach chair doing just that...but I don’t think I could get it by the accounting department.
